Designed to foster and develop connections with industry experts, Aspire delivers a specialised opportunity to launch and establish professional arts pathways in the largest regional theatre in SA – the College’s own onsite Barossa Arts Centre!

Following on from the success of the 2022 Aspire Program, we are pleased to announce applications are now open for 2023.

Designed to foster and develop connections with industry experts, Aspire delivers a specialised opportunity to launch and establish professional arts pathways in the largest regional theatre in SA – the College’s own onsite Barossa Arts Centre!

Two streams are available for students to consider – Performing Arts and Music.

‘Watching my daughter perform her original song for her Aspire assessment piece brought tears to my eyes. From joining the program at the beginning of the year til now, wow has she grown! I am still blown away by how she managed to compose her song by working out piano chords, rhythms, melody and lyrics. She has learned so much from the support and encouragement of her teachers and peers in the program, it has been incredible watching Holly’s passion for music grow.’ Melissa Farley, Parent of Year 8 Aspire student

Aspire has allowed me to develop my skills as a learner through my passion for performing arts in a professional, industry-based environment. The program has opened me up to performance opportunities both within the school community and externally, with the chance to feature as a soloist, dancer, and ensemble member in Faith’s 2022 performance of ‘Showstoppers – Songs from Bond’. I have been able to work collaboratively with musicians and performers alike that share the same passion as myself to participate in high-quality productions for a range of audiences.

The program has given me the determination to explore post-secondary options in the Theatre, Music, and Arts industries, with a highlight of this year being our excursion to the Northern Sound System’s ‘Music Careers Expo’ in Term 2. The event provided a worthwhile experience through being able to communicate with industry professionals, broadening my horizons in terms of potential career pathways.

During our weekly lessons, we have had the opportunity to be involved in workshops with skilled mentors under the guidance of our teachers. The assessments are relevant, flexible, and creative and assist in providing performance opportunities to express our talents, such as our recent ‘Conceptual Characterisation’ showcase where each student presented a unique interpretation of a musical or theatrical work to an audience of their choice.

I feel I have gained confidence in developing and applying new skills to my outcomes, with the intention of experience integral to each performer’s involvement. Our concurrent ‘Personal Endeavour’ project has allowed us to inquire into an industry field of interest to set us up for success in the future.

Aspire has been incredibly beneficial, with the chance to work in a focussed capacity with like-minded individuals a rewarding aspect of being involved. I strongly recommend anyone considering applying to have a go – the program will provide you with invaluable experience for any young performer wishing to become involved in performing arts. Reo Gerhardy, Year 10 Aspire student 2022
