The morning’s Championship events included some strongly contended sprints, while similar results were recorded on the field.
The Championship events saw the setting of five new records including the matching of a 35-year old standing record for High Jump previously held by Kylie Jenkins in 1987. The record is now jointly held by Year 8 student Charlie Ross at a height of 1.37 metres.
Embracing the College’s new District format, Student District Leaders helped ignite a strong camaraderie between Village Care groups as they participated in the afternoon’s Novelty Events program including the Wheel-Barrow Race, 3-Legged Race, Balance Race, Sack Race, and Tug of War.
The day culminated with the much anticipated inaugural Middle School and Senior School 4 x 100 District Relays. Involving two male and two female participants for each race, a total of 10 relays created quite the spectacle reflecting the strong sports culture of our region.
Before official presentations, a sea of capes captured the attention of students and staff as our Year 12 cohort presented their annual traditional dance to the students and staff.
Finally thank you to all staff who helped facilitate the day and supported the PE Learning Area and our students.
