Finishing school can come with a lot more opportunities and qualifications than ever before. With government incentives and a flexible approach to what it means to ‘finish school’, Year 12 students have opportunities to start their career, whilst still in the support network of secondary education.
Faith Lutheran College, through a dedicated Pathways team, proudly supports students to undertake their School-based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBAT) in partnership with their South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE). SBATs are qualified trade training opportunities that support students’ passion and leads them down a career path that interests them.
Faith currently has 12 School Based Apprentices in Carpentry, Wine Industry Operations, Commercial Cookery, Cabinet Making, Hairdressing, Mobile Plant Technology, Agriculture and Engineering. These students balance their SACE commitments with their work, training and extra-curricular activities. No mean feat when you learn how many extra-curricular activities some of these students have!
The Pathways team helps to guide students in their decision-making process, refine their ambition and give direction for their next steps. Once the students have decided on their SBAT path, the Pathways office undertakes the appropriate paperwork to enable students to undertake their SBAT which includes coordinating their SACE timetable. SBAT students value their regular mentor meetings with the VET Coordinator to keep everything running smoothly.
Our Pathways and Vocational Education Trainers (VET) work with students to ensure they are organised, dedicated, passionate and driven. All the World Ready skills Faith aspires to instil in each and every student.
