Faith Lutheran College

Find your spark…

All Middle School students take part in the Find Your Spark! Elective program.

In Year 7 students take part in six electives over the course of the year, Year 8 student’s take part in three elective and Year 9 student’s select two electives.

The range of electives changes each term, with topics reflective of student interests, staff passions and weather. Each term Service-focused electives are also an important addition to the options available.

Each elective is…

  • task-orientated
  • relevant
  • purposeful
  • connected to real life
  • FUN!

The elective program is designed to promote collaboration, resilience and problem solving, also giving students extended opportunities to build relationships with teachers and their peers outside of a traditional classroom setting.

Our inquiry approach enables each student to develop a greater depth and understanding of the topics being explored as they develop their passions and expertise in particular subjects.

It is really important for us at Faith to give students the opportunity to have input into what they learn and how they learn. The elective program provides an opportunity for students to not only engage with areas of passion and interest, but to take learning to a much deeper level.” – Steve Wilksch, Principal
